Germany, UK, Switzerland to Australia
Hi there,
its been years since I gotten around to post or write anything at all....but I made a promise to start this all over again and here we go.
Its been a bit of a detour since last. We moved to Switzerland and bought a house that I of course started to renovate....but than again there was only so much I could do....so no mosaics that have been done except for one little bit that I will bring up later as it is now with me in Perth.
Gosh so much has happened since we arrived here. The house we bought is a full renovation project. the shell is good and well everything else is down to our imagination or shall i say mine.
What I have noticed and was so shocked about is the fact that only now they are banning plastic bags.
Gosh this is not good. I dont have a composting bin because they dont do that here either.
I wanted to embark on a new and exciting but also I got the feeling mostly annoying and frustrating journey. I have decided to try my zero waste and try to be more eco friendly overall.
When we lived in Switzerland I bought a whole wardrobe full of clothing that will last me for the next 20 years if I dont get too fat and all for a bargain as it all was second hand and very good quality.
Also most of our furniture is preloved and some I up-cyceld. So done a lot on that end. so clothing and furniture is sorted for now. As we are currently still trying to build our business up over here I got more time than i want so when I can't do anything I am trying to cook bake and squeeze and blend whatever we loved eating before and now got for my little girl a smoothie that i take and turn this into a freshly made milkshake every morning. So one smoothie lasts us the whole week. I started making bliss balls and I am proud to say after the first lot......My two where brave and ate them all......the next I just made where very nice. Also started again to make my own ice-cream and baileys. nom nom i forgot how good that is. Next of course is baking bread. we agreed on one healthy bread and the next one unhealthy i.e. white one. last but not least still baking cakes and biscuits but got still so much i want to make for us....
i am also looking at making my own butter......considering i pay 4.99$ for 500g and get the cream for 2.80$ for 600ml.....i wonder how much i get out of that....mhhhh so thats my next project and the one where i make musli bars.....just getting more creative for us all as we tend to get bored with the same things all the time. So onwards and upwards I guess it is for me.
That all aside I want to get people also to see that it can be so easy to make your own stuff and it is soooooooooo rewarding to eat and drink your own....I should know as i am getting bigger and bigger in doing so....never mind our scale is old and soon to die anyway so nobody will find out anyway.
What else oh yes my house......currently trying to finish off some parts of it but hey its super slow.
I seem to perform better when the pressure is on. Must find some pressure to perform I guess....
but at least we have had a garage build and the roof insulated. new doorhandles everywhere. Also got new lighting everywhere inside and out and the electrician has almost been living here to move a lot around so that we could actually have a proper lounge and a nice dining room. Also let me not forget the log burner i found and my lovely husband has restored. we had some nice person come along and instal it all for us and hey i never looked back as winter without this brrrrr wouldn't have been funny at all I should think. So whats next on the list ah yes the guest bedroom is soon to be painted and one wall will be covered with wallpaper.......and i got this from when i was still in the uk so this is going up now no doubt.
Wow I think I really need to make pictures of it all to really make sure people believe me actually that i have moved and really living in the next country and house.
right thats it from me for now....lets see when i am up next. Oh and here we go at least something I made. One is the splash back and the other one well is my little elephants that still want to be hung up here but I am sure it will be soooooooon.
