Birthday wish for my friend
Well here I am back again with to little time on my hand as usual. Gosh I do wonder every time again how long it takes to make a mosaic. I have to tell you ....MY HANDS ARE KILLING ME!!! I was clipping tiles for over 4 hours. We are not just talking about the usual standard mosaic tiles ....no no we are talking about normal tiles for kitchens and bathrooms.
Why, oh why am I always so much into the environment.....you know the kind of save the world type and having to reuse everything. Serves me right.....
So yes I have started with two projects the same time....really shouldn't do that but just can't help myself so done it anyway.
OK the save the world project are our new place mats for our dining table as our old ones are sold with the last house. New house, new place mats. I haven't got any pictures uploaded but will do so over the next two weeks...PROMISE!!!
The other project is my friends Birthday present. She has a red and white themed kitchen and mentioned gently the last time i was around that a mat where she can put her kettle or hot sauce pan down on would just be the perfect present for her Birthday...or some place mats for her new dining table. As I am just renovation our new house incl. laying the mosaics for two bathrooms it wasn't a difficult decision to go with. You might guess...Yes correct I took the one rather than the two piece present. Anyway I done the outline and just glued it all down. Only thing missing is the white grout. Can't wait to get back on it to finish it off, but as it's always the way we are away for the next 4 days. So this is all on hold till we are back and I am able to get the grout.
Cutting a long story short here is now finally a snapshot of her present. I hope she will like it?! Let me know what you think!!!
Now time moved on and my lovely hubby said he had found some white grout for me. What I did miss to ask was how old it was. So silly me of I went and started grouting my friends present. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh not a good idea let me tell you that one. Once it all gone on it it alrady started to go wrong. I do want to mention that I didn't had unlimited grout to hand.....no no it was just a small amount he gave me. Just enough to get it covered.
After a hysterical emergency fixing I managed to save the placemat. It didn't look very good in the beginning but I managed to get it right and in the end I was ok with the end result, but there you go see it for yourself.
